3 Tips for Preparing to Move
By Adam Lansdell
Moving can be stressful for a myriad of reasons, but few of those reasons surpass the uncertainty of the core objective at hand: How to move all of your things without damaging or losing them!
No one knows packing like TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® – the Michigan-based moving company that’s been helping relocate for over 30 years. With locations in 43 countries, including offices in Bay City, Saginaw and Midland, “The Movers Who Care” have seen it all and have three tips for making your next move a breeze.
GET ORGANIZED AND START PACKING EARLY:
Packing is going to take longer than you think. As soon as you’re certain of your move date or have a clear intent to move, begin seeking out boxes, packing tape and other useful materials to start packing your belongings.
PREP YOUR BELONGINGS FOR A SMOOTH MOVE-IN:
Essentially, you need to attempt to create a box or boxes for each room. This will make it simpler to unload and reorganize things once you’re in your new home. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ® recommends you avoid mixing items from different rooms and being certain to label which room each box came from as to not forget which is which.
USE THE ORIGINAL BOXES FOR TVs And ELECTRONICS:
If possible, reuse the boxes and foam that came with larger appliances and consumer electronics such as television screens. These items are fragile and if improperly stored may break during transit. Factory-molded foam is often your best way to firmly and securely repack your items for shipment. In addition, they make items more easily identifiable as fragile for movers if you aren’t transporting things on your own.
