We’re showcasing the “Best Burger” winners of Greatest of the Great Lakes Bay in our special food section, because who doesn’t love a good burger?   Farmer’s Home Tavern Farmer’s Home Tavern in Hemlock takes the top spot for burgers in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Almost every review for Farmer’s raved about its big, juicy burgers, describing them as the “best burgers around.” You can expect to have toppings piled high and to have the burger cooked to perfection each time you visit. Farmer’s is known for its simplistic dining experience, friendly service and food packed with flavor. It’s no surprise people travel from all over the region to get a taste of these “world famous” burgers.   American Kitchen Not all burgers are created equal, and Bay City’s American Kitchen has featured a whole lot of burger goodness on its menu, from the 5-Alarm burger to the Kentucky Derby burger, Ranch burger and everything in between. Reviews call the staff friendly and helpful. In February, American Kitchen was reported to be rebranding into a barbecue concept restaurant called M2, modeled after Midland’s Molasses Smokehouse. Stay tuned.   Freddie’s Tavern People think of Freddie’s Tavern in Mount Pleasant when they crave a classically delicious burger. Residents have enjoyed Freddie’s since 1981, and new students discover the mouthwatering burgers every year. Customers love that each burger is made to their personal taste and served on a soft, tasty bun — they are often paired with beer and whatever big game is on. The bar’s burgers have been voted Best Burgers in Town eight times by the People’s Choice Award, and Freddie’s will likely continue to take the title for years to come.
