The Many Joys of the Season

Season’s greeting! In this annual winter holiday issue, we help you navigate this busy season so you can enjoy every moment of it without feeling stressed or overwhelmed. On page 29, Barb Appold gives advice on how to throw the perfect party, be it formal or flexible. You also will find hints on how to be a good guest at get-togethers and ways you can show your appreciation for the invitation. There are plenty of unique activities listed on our arts and entertainment calendar (page 52), from pretzel-rolling lessons in Frankenmuth and stargazing in Bay City to Hands-On History in Midland and Science Sundays in Mount Pleasant. If holiday happenings are more to your liking, look no further. Events such as the Saginaw County Medical Society Alliance’s Jingle Mingle, the Chesaning Christmas Candlelight Walk, Breakfast with Santa at the Trombley-Centre House in Bay City and much, much more will satisfy that seasonal need. You will not be at a loss for entertainment or activities wherever you live. In this edition we meet Leeds Bird and Kevin Cole, theatrical partners whose 45-year collaboration continues to produce musical entertainment, this season in the form of “A Carol of the Birds” (page 35). Inside you will read about Dr. Candice Colby, a Bay City native who helps her patients – mostly children – hear clearly for the first time through life-changing cochlear implant surgery. I hope you enjoy this edition of Great Lakes Bay Magazine and make the many hometown stores and restaurants in this edition your go-to sources for holiday shopping. I wish you and your family peace and joy during this special season.   Best wishes, Marisa Horak Belotti Publisher
