I said, “Yes!”

My then-boyfriend proposed, and now I’ve got the ring. The first item to cross off of a long list of wedding planning: Set a date and find a place to get married. If, like me, you’re looking for the perfect, unique spot for your ceremony or reception (or any event), the Great Lakes Bay Region has you covered. One event location option is the Pere Marquette Depot in Bay City. The old railroad station was turned into a host for nonprofit organizations and a spot to hold weddings, parties, and more. The building offers the look and feeling of industrial, urban Bay City in the early 1900s. Inside there are tall ceilings, lots of natural light, and photograph opportunities of the bridal party overlooking downtown Bay City. Pohlcat Golf Course in Mount Pleasant has lush, green views that are ideal for an outdoor ceremony. The venue offers intimate reception indoor or outdoor settings. Your wedding photograph can snap pics of the bridal party on the green, over a bridge, and by a stream. Get in touch with nature at Midland’s Dow Gardens, which has three different landscapes to pick from for your venue. The gardens feature the Peninsula, Reflection Garden, and Red Bridge Overlook.  Fountains, bridges, blooming flowers, and mature trees await the bride and her groom at all of the locales. An old train depot, a romantic hall, or a getaway outdoors … there are so many options and only one big day. Share with us where you were married, a memory when friends said their vows, or the place where you would like to tie the knot. And don’t forget to pick up our soon-to-be-on-newsstands February issue of Great Lakes Bay magazine, with ideas for just-right bridal gowns, hair, and makeup.
